Project - Locally Sourced
These images represent the start of a series promoting locally sourced produce in the north-east of Scotland.
The aim is promote independent fish mongers & butchers, capturing the food chain from beginning to end.
The images above are from Stephen's Fish Merchants, a third-generation family business established in 1924. They are based in the coastal village of Gourdon, located about 28 miles south of Aberdeen, just south of Inverbervie. It is a wholesale business, but anyone can walk in and buy whatever is available. They smoke both hot and cold-smoked salmon, and process various fresh fish. I tried some of the hot-smoked salmon still warm and it was incredible; I recommend anyone out for a nice drive to swing by!
